It is with heavy heart, we announce the passing of Albert P. Antunez Sr., at the age of 94 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 10th, 2025. Albert was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Born on May 30, 1930, raised in Oxnard and Santa Paula, being a lifelong resident of Ventura County. He was the youngest of six siblings. After the loss of his mother in his early teens, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Frank helped raise Albert and he spent his summers living in the Yosemite Valley. After graduating from Santa Paula Union High School at the age of eighteen he enlisted into the United States Army. His tour of service was in Germany, proud to be a service member of the 1st Infantry Division known as "The Big Red One." After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1952, he returned to Santa Paula where he met the love of his life Maria whom he married shortly thereafter. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator at the Point Mugu Naval Base until his retirement. Living in Santa Paula and raising his four children gave him immense joy and was what he truly cherished.

Albert is survived by his children, Hortensia Antunez-Castro, Myra (David) Chavez, Denise (Dennis) Wadkins, Albert P. Antunez Jr. (Staci Sims).

He is also survived by his Grandchildren, Ronald A. (Kerijane) Castro, Derek B. (Nicole) Castro, Shannon (Zach) Gibson, Alicia (Steve) Villegas, Yvonne (Zach) Pfeifer, David M. (Trisha) Chavez, and Kaley (Alex) Garcia. And survived by his Great-grandchildren, Kaden L. Castro, Kye Rose Chavez, Amandamaria M. Castro, Kiya m. Castro, Kira M. Castro, Marlow Bouetillier, Austyn Bouetillier, Mason Garcia, Hunter Garcia, Charlotte Garcia, Ariana Villegas, Sofia Villegas, Troy Villegas, Bella Villegas, and Maeve Gibson.

Albert preceded in death by his wife Maria P. Antunez, his mother Hortencia Antunez Pacheco, brothers Manuel P. Antunez, Frank Marquez, Carlos P. Antunez, and sisters Lillian Marquez Santoyo and Lupe A. Brito.

Albert was also known by his lifelong nicknames "Pajaro and Birdie." Traveling though-out the United States and Mexico with his wife Maria was a yearly adventure he lived for. Albert was an avid golfer for many years, visiting the Saticoy Public Links when he could. He loved dancing to his "Big Band and Eydie Gorme Y Los Panchos" records with his wife Maria. Volunteering coaching Little League Baseball was always a labor of love for Albert. Albert was a Baseball fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, listening to them on the radio or watching them play whenever he had the chance. Albert was invited to Dodger stadium (Dodger Blue Week) as a Dodger fan, where he was given an honorary uniform, walked the field, and ate lunch with the team. He loved to share his life stories and will not only be missed by his immediate family, but by his extended family and friends.
