Obituary

Benjamin "Benjie" T. Rivera, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Paula on September 14, 2024.

Benjamin, better known as Benjie was born to Mercedes Rivera and Micaela Torres in Fabens, Texas on March 14, 1941. Benjie attended grade school and high school in Fabens. He relocated to Santa Paula, CA in 1961 at the age of 20 where he met the love of his life Maria "Bonnie" Salazar. On October 18, 1963, they were married and shared 60 beautiful years of love, joy, and happiness. They had 4 beautiful children and later raised them in their family home of 49 years.

Benjie was a hard-working family man. He started working for Weyerhaeuser in 1963 and retired in 2003. Benjie dedicated countless years to the Moose organization where he developed lifelong friendships. He was enrolled to the Loyal Order of Moose, on September 16, 1981. He served as Jr. Governor in Ventura Moose twice and Governor in Santa Paula Moose 4 times and numerous other offices and chairmanships.

He was an amazing bowler, being a proud holder of 2 official 300 games. In addition, he was an avid pool player who participated in tournaments at the Moose.

Benjie and Bonnie loved to travel with friends and family, especially their Cruise Trips. They also enjoyed their vacations together to Laughlin and Reno with his favorite Casino being the Riverside in Laughlin.

Benjamin is survived by his wife Bonnie Rivera, and children; Benjamin Rivera Jr. (Linda), Veronica Rivera, Michael Rivera, and Rosanna Rodriguez (Ray). He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Siblings; Ana Galvan, Clara Castro, Ray Rivera, David Rivera, Tio Cipriano, and numerous nieces and nephews

Benjamin is preceded in death by his father Mercedes and Mother Micaela. Brothers: Jesus Rivera, Louie Torres Fierro, and Sisters; Rosa Rodriguez and Mercy Hernandez and Great-Grandsons Isaac and Isaiah Ramos.
