Reverend Edgar Allan Mohorko
December 4, 1960 – July 29, 2025

Reverend Edgar Allan Mohorko passed away peacefully, leaving behind a powerful legacy of faith, service, and community transformation. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and raised in Puerto Rico, Edgar overcame early hardship and devoted his life to God and to uplifting others. He joined the U.S. Army in 1982, the same year he married his beloved wife, Marta. Together they raised four children—Jade, twins Jessica and Jaliece, and Edgar Jr.—while Edgar followed his call to ministry. In 1987, he founded his first church in Oxnard, California, and launched a homeless outreach inspired by Matthew 25:35–36.

Over the years, he established multiple churches, recovery homes, and the Clergy Council, bridging the gap between faith and civic leadership.

With advanced degrees from Azusa Pacific and Pepperdine, he became a city consultant and founded HopeBoyz Outreach, later expanding his efforts to Northern California through "4 Cities 4 Peace," a program honored by Congress for reducing crime and building unity.

In the last 6 years he had the opportunity to serve as spiritual counselor for Assisted Living Hospice, and then Activities Director and Chaplain for Heritage House Santa Barbara. Doing this work continued his purpose in ministry in another capacity that added to his purpose.

Reverend Mohorko was preceded in death by his daughter Jessica and granddaughter Janaiv. He is survived by his devoted wife Marta; children Jade, Jaliece and Edgar Jr.; grandchildren Jaivan, Jaidani, Brandon, and Brielle; his parents John and Gladys; and siblings John Jr., Eric, Maria, Johann, and Suzanne. He is also survived by the many spiritual children he mentored and loved.

He lived by scriptures and sayings that reflected his bold faith: "Don't let your circumstances dictate your joy," "Be the change you want to see," and "Seek first the kingdom of God."

His life touched thousands—and his legacy of love, leadership, and service will never be forgotten.

His final wish, "I don't want anyone wearing all black, have them all wear Green and Yellow. Hahaha!"
