In Loving Memory of Eleanor Marie Montes
Eleanor Montes, a lifelong resident of Oxnard, California, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.
Eleanor was born and raised in Oxnard and attended Channel Islands High School. She worked in several finance companies, Kinko’s Corporate Office, before retiring from the Oxnard Union High School District.
Eleanor was a woman who truly enjoyed life. She loved going to the movies, taking weekend trips to Pismo and Solvang, and getting away for a little fun and relaxation. But as much as she enjoyed these things, nothing compared to the joy she found in being with her family. She was, without a doubt, one of the sweetest and most selfless women anyone could ever know. Eleanor had a heart that was always giving. She cared about everyone, worried about everyone, and somehow always found a way to make the people she loved feel cared for.Her family was her greatest joy.Eleanor is survived by her three children, Jimmy Montes, Jason Montes, and Joanne Garcia. Her daughter-in-law, Berna Montes; and her son-in-law, Rudy Garcia. She leaves behind her grandchildren, James Montes, Alexis Bustillos, Adriana Simental, Rebecca Simental, Roman Jr. Simental, and Gigi Garcia. Eleanor was also a proud and loving great-grandmother to Isaac and twins Aaron and Brooklyn Bustillos. Her great-grandchildren brought her so much happiness. She loved being a great-grandmother. Her love, hugs, kisses, and all those little moments they shared with her will remain memories they carry with them for the rest of their lives. Eleanor is also survived by her beloved sister, Liz Adams, and her brothers, Albert, Eddie and Robert Reyes. She leaves behind her nieces and nephews, including Brittany and Nadia, her goddaughter, as well as her great-nieces. She is also survived by her former husband, Jim. Although they were no longer married, Eleanor continued to care and worry about his well-being.She was preceded in death by her father, Anthony, her mother, Gloria, and her brother, Steve Reyes. Those who knew Eleanor will remember her for her gentle heart, her kindness, and the way she always put others before herself. She didn’t need a big occasion to be happy. A movie, a little weekend getaway, a meal with family, or simply being together was enough. Eleanor gave love so freely and expected nothing in return. She was there for her family in the quiet ways that sometimes mean the most - checking in, helping, loving, and making sure everyone was okay. Her absence will leave a space that can never truly be filled. But so much of Eleanor will remain in her entire family and in the countless memories created throughout her life.Eleanor, you were loved more than words can say. You will be missed more than you will ever know. Your love will live on in all of us, and we will carry you in our hearts forever.
Rest peacefully, our little Ellie. Thank you for a lifetime of love
