On March 1, 2026, Elizabeth Figueroa Martinez danced through the gates of heaven the same way she lived among us: peacefully, gracefully, and surrounded by love. She was a rare and remarkable soul, moving through life with a quiet radiance that never asked to be noticed, yet naturally drew others close.
Liz was born on December 30, 1956 in El Paso,Texas. She carried strength, independence and compassion through her younger years as a daughter and sister within the Figueroa family. She mothered with devotion, she grandmothered with joy, and she befriended with a generosity that asked for nothing in return. She lived life with tenacity and curiosity, working harder to create more opportunity for herself.

She leaves behind her four children, Marisol Martinez, Anna M. Coronado, David A. Martinez, and Angelica Martinez, along with her beautiful grandchildren, who will carry pieces of her light wherever they go.

Liz devoted over 40 years to her beloved Port Hueneme Naval Base. Her colleagues respected her deeply, not only for her loyalty and dedication, but for the nurturing spirit she shared so freely with everyone around her. Liz retired shortly after receiving an unfortunate cancer diagnosis. She faced it with the same courage and resilience she brought to every chapter of her life. It was never a fair fight, cancer rarely is, but she met it with a champion's heart.

Liz lived a life full of adventure, love and laughter. In her earlier years she traveled to many places and enjoyed dancing to live music with good people. She could always be spotted in a crowd with her unique collection of jewelry and dazzling style. Liz will be remembered for her sense of humor, her selflessness, her vibrant spirit and the incredible ability to make one feel seen and valued instantly. Those who knew her will carry her forward in the ways she taught them in kindness offered without hesitation, with patience practiced even when it's hard, and in the courage to love people fully. Her legacy is not a single moment but a constellation of them, shining quietly in the hearts she touched.

To honor her beautiful life, we invite guests to bring a photo or a brief letter sharing a memory or message for her. These will be gathered into a memorial scrapbook for our family to cherish for years to come
