Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eva Montanez Morua, who passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 95 on February 24, 2025. Eva was born on December 6, 1929 in Shafter, Texas. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Santa Paula. She worked at Santa Paula Citrus Lemon Association for many years and ended her working career at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest R. Morua Jr., son-in-law's Raymond "Mon" Nevarez, Peter Juarez, Johnny Meza, and grandson Raymond "Toby" Nevarez II. Siblings Manuela "Nellie" Bustillos, Aurora "Bora" Morua, Mercy Yanez, Lucy Garcia, and brothers Gabino, Tiofilo, and Ray Montanez. She leaves behind her children, Sylvia Nevarez, Celia Meza, Ernest Morua III, Lucille Juarez, and Lisa (Manuel) Centeno. Her loving sister, Lucille "Chilla" Vasquez, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 28 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.

Our mom enjoyed watching the Dodgers, especially her favorite player Mookie Betts. It was nice that she was able to watch them win the championship in 2024. Her favorite TV show was Family Feud. She loved playing and challenging anyone to a game of Dominoes, where she earned the name "La Reina," The Queen, because she rarely lost. She touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

We would like to acknowledge the loving and caring support provided to our mother by Dr. Gary Deutsch, Community Memorial Hospital 6th floor staff, Victoria Care Center, and Buena Vista Hospice. The family would also like to thank all the family and friends who visited our mother and continued to spoil her.

"VAYA CON DIOS" MOM!
