Obituary

Florencio Burboa Noriega

Our loving father and grandfather, Florencio Burboa Noriega passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 19, 2024. Florencio was born on July 8, 1945, in Santa Paula, CA to his parents Florencio Renteria Noriega and Trinidad B. Noriega.

He attended Santa Paula High School and graduated in 1963. After high school, he entered the construction industry and worked there for a few years. Shortly after, he began his career as a custodian with the Ventura Unified School District. He took pride in his job and eventually retired from the district after 35 years. He retired from the Ventura Unified School District in 2005.

Chencho, as he was known to many, was a lifelong resident of Santa Paula, CA. He married the love of his life Susie Noriega on July 23, 1968. A year later, Susie and Chencho welcomed their first son Richard. Shortly after, they had their first daughter Vivian. They completed their family with the birth of Ruben seven years later. Chencho was a devoted father, known for his presence at his children's sporting events and famous BBQ.

Chencho had a passion for sports of all kinds. He attended many softball, football, and basketball games. His fondness for sports evolved when he coached his children in softball, basketball, and football. Chencho was a devoted UCLA fan, rooting for them in every sport from gymnastics to basketball.

In his early life, when Chencho wasn't coaching or watching UCLA, he was catering and BBQing. He enjoyed family gatherings from behind the grill.

After retirement, Chencho enjoyed an easier life. He spent his days attending sporting events for his grandchildren, but only as a spectator. Chencho enjoyed Sunday mornings with menudo surrounded by family. And a day could not be complete without reading his newspaper, always reading the sports section first.

Chencho is preceded in death by his father Florencio Noriega, Mother Trini Noriega, wife Susie Noriega, son Ruben Noriega, grandson David Espinoza, Mark Tobias and other family members. He is survived by his eldest son Richard Noriega (Rosemary Noriega), daughter Vivian Espinoza ( Luis Espinoza), daughter-in-law Alma Noriega, and granddaughters Kimberly Espinoza, Bianca Noriega, and Amaris Noriega. He is also survived by his siblings, great-grandchildren, and many other family members.

The Noriega family would like to thank the Livingston Visiting Nurses for their help. The nurses gave Chencho comfort, care, and support, which allowed him to pass comfortably at home while surrounded by loved ones.
