Family, and friends, today we gather here to celebrate the life of a GREAT man,

Fred Medina. Fred was more than just a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son; he was a force of nature that left a lasting mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Born in a small town outside of Morelia, Michoacan to his loving parents, Leonor, and Rafael Medina, on July 1st, 1962, one of seven living siblings, Fred grew up in Oxnard, California an All-American boy. From riding his motorcycle to crafting classic cars like the iconic '64 and '65 Impala, Fred lived life with passion, a true firecracker in every sense.

Fred was a single dad to his son, Jose, and their weekends together consisted of Domino's Pizza, and action-packed Rambo movie marathons. Their bond was strengthened through visits to Chuck E. Cheese, cruising in his lowriders, attending car shows and pit stops at Buddy Burgers. Fred's love for cars extended beyond leisure; he passed on his skills of welding, painting, and the art of car maintenance to Jose, creating memories that would last a lifetime. From coaching Sunset Little League baseball games to high school coaching, Fred remained a steadfast presence in Jose's life.

Jose and Maritza would later bestow upon Fred the most precious gift he could ever ask for– his two beloved grandchildren, Aleya, and Angel, who held a special place in his heart. Every Tuesday, they shared a weekly lunch date, creating a connection that will last a lifetime grandpa Fred was the best grandpa to me and my brother, and we will always miss him.

Fred's commitment to family extended to his father, Rafael, whom he visited three times a week, sharing memories of his childhood, enjoying a strong father-son connection. He was always proud of his extended family, nieces, and nephews, often heard bragging to his friends about their accomplishments.

A true Raider fan since 1980, Fred's dedication to the team was unwavering. Today, some of his family honors him by wearing Raider jerseys and Raider colored apparel, symbolizing his dedicated passion for the team he loved, regardless of the game's outcome.

Fred was a man of community. As a member of City Life as a teen and ultimately Switch car club, he dedicated himself to helping others alongside childhood friends. His impact on the community will be remembered for years to come.

In 2008, Fred embraced his faith, getting baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of his sins at the Apostolic Church of Faith in Christ Jesus. From that moment forward, he consistently attended worship services, even when his work schedule posed challenges.

It was in March 2010 that Fred met his wife-to-be, Rossie, during Bible studies, and in September 2011, he began to court her, and their relationship blossomed. In June 2012, they joined their lives in holy matrimony with a ceremony before God and their family. A God-fearing Christian, Fred cherished attending church with Rossie, always choosing to sit in the front row. He served as an usher and volunteered for any task asked of him, showcasing his unwavering commitment to his faith.

Fred's character may have been strong, his jokes sarcastic, and his personality bold, but in the presence of God, he was gentle and reverent. Even in his final moments, he clung to his trust in God, believing that beyond the horizon, a loving Creator awaited him with open arms.

Today, we say our goodbyes to a man whose impact on our lives will forever be etched in our hearts. Fred Medina, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, may you find eternal peace in the arms of the Almighty.
