With shattered hearts, we share the sad loss of our beloved Brother Jaime. Jaime Ibarra Rey was born on December 27, 1949 in Ciudad Camargo, Chihuahua. Mexico. Jaime started elementary school in Mexico. At the age of 6 his family immigrated to the United States settling in Oxnard, California. Jaime attended local schools where he played football and basketball at Oxnard High School and graduated class of 1968.
He attended Ventura College transferring to UCSB, where he received his Bachelor's Degree and then moved to Inglewood, CA to attend UCLA, where he received an MBA Degree.
Jaime fell in love and married Consuelo Lechuga. Together they raised her two children; Daniel and Jennifer, whom he loved as his very own.
Jaime worked successfully from a young age with his younger brother Ruben Rey shining shoes on Meta Street in Downtown Oxnard.
Jaime worked as a Junior Vice President at the Bank of California in Los Angeles where he honed his business skills before starting his own mortgage company: L. A. Mortgage on La Cienega and Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills. Jaime was a forerunner in providing mortgage services to the growing Latino marketplace.
Jaime loved animals and was a popular people person and made friends effortlessly. He enjoyed taking long walks, listening to music and watching sports like his LA Dodgers and LA Lakers play. Jaime participated twice in the Los Angeles Marathon. He loved to dance and wear the color Navy Blue.
Jaime was preceded in death by his father Jose Guadalupe Soto Rey and mother Maria Teresa Ibarra Rey. Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Martha Elena Rey Garcia (Roberto),
Maria del Carmen Rey Ruiz (Arturo), Ruben Ibarra Rey (Maria), and Elva Carolina Rey Anderson (Arvid). Along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
In the end, Jaime was surrounded in love by his family. He will be missed. May his memory be a blessing to those that knew him.
