Obituary

Jeffrey Francis Erskine, 88, of Oxnard, California, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on September 18, 1936, in Liverpool, England, Jeffrey's early years were marked by resilience, surviving World War II as a child alongside his parents. On May 22, 1948, the Erskine family immigrated to the United States, where Jeffrey proudly became a U.S. citizen on June 30, 1954.

After completing his education, Jeffrey devoted 28 years of service to the United States Air Force. His distinguished career included a deployment to Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his courageous service. He is remembered by his comrades for his discipline, integrity, and unwavering dedication to duty. He also served as a leading member of the 1st Memorial Honors Detail in Ventura County, helping conduct ceremonies for hundreds of veterans.

Following his military service, Jeffrey continued a life of public service as a Court Administrator and later as a deputy sheriff in Tucson, Arizona. In retirement, he and his wife Sharon relocated to Oxnard, where he volunteered with the Oxnard and Ventura Police Departments and assisted the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Jeffrey built a life filled with love, family, and simple joys. He was married to Faye Janet Lovinger and later to Sharon Kay Wilson, with whom he shared many years of love and companionship. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; their four children, Dawn, Howard, Kerry, and Shelley; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as Gaga.

Jeffrey will be remembered for his quiet strength, dry humor, and deep devotion to family. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the values he lived by, and the love he gave so freely.

A memorial visitation is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a Prayer Service to begin at 11:00 am, at Garcia Mortuary, 629 South A Street, Oxnard, CA 93030. Jeffrey's final resting place will be at Riverside National Cemetery to be held at a later date.
