Obituary

Joe Luis Reyes affectionately known as "Joe Ray Ray", a lifelong resident of Fillmore, passed away on May 8, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Michoacán, Mexico, he was the son of Manuela Antunez and Ronaldo Reyes and was raised by his grandmother, Salvadora Valencia Reyes.

Joe was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his children Sabrina, Richard, and Felix (wife: Sandy); grandchildren Rena, Art, Carlina, Jojo, Destiny, Natalie, Ann Marie, Lucy, and Zoe; and 15 great-grandchildren who meant the world to him.

He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Villalobos, Hope Arellano, Carmen Arroyo, Lydia Jacques, and Esperanza Anguiano; brothers Gene Reyes, Julian Esquivel, Miguel Barraza, Jorge Jacques, and Carlos Alfaro; and many nieces and nephews, including Gloria, Veronica, and Joseph.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Manuela Antunez and Ronaldo Reyes, and by his son, Ronnie Reyes.

Joe had a deep love for his community and spent many years coaching high school track and youth football. He had a gift for connecting with the youth. His impact on Fillmore's youth will be remembered for generations.

Known for his steady presence, sense of humor, and dedication to family, Joe lived a full life surrounded by those he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
