On April 5, 2025, John Savas Mora was called upon by the LORD to heaven after having lived 95 selfless years on earth. Born on January 5, 1930, to Ysaac and Savas Mora, John was the fourth of seven siblings to be born and raised in the city of Santa Paula. As an adolescent, John attended Oxnard High School and upon graduation continued to develop his skills in the trades. However, when John was only twenty-one years old, he heard his calling to serve the country he knew and loved, in the United States armed forces. Enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1951, John would most notably serve on the front lines of the Korean War and was promoted to Corporal by the end of his military service in 1952. Along with his honorable service, John was awarded several military awards that included the Combat Infantry Badge, Korea Campaign Medal with three Battle Stars, United Nation Medal, and an Overseas Bar.

Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, John would continue to serve the armed forces as well as his local community. As a fellow tradesman, John utilized his skill set by working for the Naval Construction Battalion Center at Port Hueneme Naval base as a painter of heavy military equipment. Furthermore, John would honor fallen soldiers by participating in honor guard services with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a non-profit organization that he would later be named as a lifetime member.  Additionally, John would go on to become a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 750 in Oxnard. With the Knights of Columbus John would caringly serve as a member of the kitchen crew over numerous decades and would also deservingly be awarded a lifetime membership in 1981. Other affiliations that John was known for was his time spent participating in the National Active Federal Employees Kitchen crew, the American Legion, the Korean War Veteran Association honor guard, and his service at the Veterans BBQ.

Looking back to 1972, John would meet his lifelong partner Ventura Gutierrez Mora who together would give birth to their two children Debra and John Jr. As a passionate father, John was characterized as a loving and caring father who worked diligently to provide for his family. His children recall their father's knowledgeable information about herbs and natural remedies that would cure even the slightest illness. They humorously express that John was Lassen's #1 customer.

In 1992, John would take on a new role that surely kept him busy for decades to come, he became a grandfather. Being introduced to his first grandchildren Destinee and Andrea, John would then become grandfather to Arianna, Johnna, Robert, Anthony, Tristan, Gianna, and Aria. Under this new role, John without hesitation would spend his time creating last memories with his grandchildren that ranged from being their chauffeur to and from school, attending their milestone events like graduations, sporting events, and weddings, and of course, taking them to their favorite food places! To add further excitement to John's life, he also was blessed with eight great-grandchildren whom he cherished every second of his life!

John Mora leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered and cherished by his friends and family. He will be remembered as a man of integrity, humor, love, and above all, honor. His life was undoubtedly spent serving others in numerous capacities and has created a lasting impact that will transcend over the course of future generations. As the LORD has called John home, his smile will forever be with us in moments of grief, his laugh in moments of silence, and his wisdom in moments of uncertainty. Que descanse en paz papa y abuelo.
