With profound love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Jose Guadalupe Lugo Bote, who passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Oxnard, California, at the age of 91.

He was born on December 12, 1933, in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, to Francisca Bote Polanco and Irineo Lugo Cervera. Raised in Mérida, Jose later immigrated to the United States in October 1966 as a migrant worker in the lemon fields, seeking a better future for his family. Through hard work, resilience, and determination, he built a life in California and eventually pursued a career in carpentry. He was a devoted provider and a strong, independent man whose greatest pride was his family.

Jose was preceded in death by his beloved wife, María del Socorro Lugo Concha, who passed in 2001. He is survived by his six children, 19 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was lovingly known as Papa—a title he held with great pride. He was a wonderful father, an unforgettable grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. His storytelling could captivate a room, and his devotion to his family and faith was unwavering.

A devout Catholic, he was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard, where he served as an usher for over ten years. He also had a deep love for baseball—especially the Los Angeles Dodgers, who brought him joy through every season.

A Rosary will be held on June 30, 2025, at 6:30 PM at García Mortuary Chapel in Oxnard. The Funeral Mass will take place on July 1, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Oxnard, with burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
