Joyce Marie Moody, affectionately known as "Joy," was born on October 25, 1953, in Alaska and passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, in Oxnard, California. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ike Taylor Sr. and Clara L. Taylor.
A proud graduate of Channel Islands High School in 1971, Joyce embarked on an extraordinary career that spanned over five decades. She dedicated 51 years to her role as a Deputy Comptroller at Point Mugu Naval Base in Ventura County. Her unwavering commitment to excellence earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her tenure, reflecting her remarkable professionalism and steadfast dedication.
Joyce found joy in life's simple pleasures and embraced them with an open heart. An avid reader with a passion for online shopping and cooking, she created countless cherished memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known for her quiet demeanor and warm presence, Joyce's love of cooking became a source of comfort and connection for those fortunate enough to share in her meals.
She was predeceased by her parents, Clara L. Taylor (2006) and Ike Taylor Sr. (2012), as well as her sisters Linda C. Taylor (1994) and Hazel Mae Jackson (2024).
Joyce leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: her daughter DeAnna M. Moody; grandchildren Kierra N. Bailey (Antonio Brown) and Anthony T. Bailey III; great-grandchildren Malaysia Key'Anna Imani Jackson, Kamiyah Amira Brown, Josiah Malik Shakur Brown, and Dwayne Hall III; siblings Ike Taylor Jr., Deborah E. Stewart, and Bruce E. Taylor; niece DeShawna L. Tobin; and great-nephew Dante T. Jackson.
Her legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
