Lidio Garcia Zamarron was born on August 3, 1933 to Margarito Garcia and Emilia Zamarron in Cerritos, San  Luis Potosí in central Mexico. Lidio was the middle son  with 2 younger brothers and two older sisters and one older  brother. Those were hard times in rural Mexico. At a young  age, Lidio and his brothers took whatever work was  available, running errands, herding livestock and working  on others' farmland. Through hard work and sacrifice, the  family managed to keep the family home, and eventually  owned and worked their own plot of farmland outside Cerritos.

On November 28, 1953, at age 20, Lidio married María  Gabina López, then 16. They lived in the Garcia household  before buying a modest house of their own in the same  neighborhood. With a new wife and 2 kids, Lidio applied  and was admitted to the United States under the Bracero  guest worker program in 1956. He worked on a cattle ranch  in west Texas owned by Jake B. Autry for many years,  earning Jake's trust and friendship. In time Jake would  sponsor Green Card applications first for Lidio, and then for  his growing family. In 1964, the west Texas cattle ranch  outside Colorado City became home to the new immigrant  family. The family would later relocate to California. After  many years, Jake and Lidio reconnected while on a Texas  road trip in May of 2010, then kept in touch by phone until  Jake's passing in September 2020.

In 1967 the family settled in the Rancho Sespe labor camp  outside Fillmore, California, then moved to La Campana,  another camp owned by Hardison Ranch Growers. Mom  and dad picked fruit all year-round. The older children  would join them, picking fruit alongside on summer vacations and holidays. In time, the children would move  on with their own lives, leaving dad "Papilo" and mom  "Mamina" to grow old together and enjoy their time with  their children, grand children and great grandchildren.

Together they faced serious illness; mom a life-threatening  liver operation in 1991 and dad a transplanted kidney  donated by his son, Lauro in 2004. They recovered and  lived relatively healthy lives until the passage of time took  its toll. Lidio lost is wife of 66 years on January 11, 2020 at the age of 84 after a brief, but fatal illness. On July 3, 2025,  Lidio died peacefully at home one month short of his 92nd birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, two  brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his brother  Ezequiel Garcia of Fillmore CA; 5 sons Heriberto Garcia  and Gabino Garcia of Fillmore CA, Lauro Garcia of  Atascadero CA, Raúl Garcia of Ventura CA and Guillermo  Garcia of Las Vegas NV; and 4 daughters, Juana Negrete  and Maria de Lourdes Garibay of Fillmore CA, Gerarda  Torres of Santa Paula CA, and Ricarda Garcia-Rosales of Rocklin CA; and leaves behind 29 Grandchildren, 43 Great  Grandchildren and 2 Great-great Grandchildren.
