Lynne Andrea
Dowling
Jul 11, 1942 — May 12, 2025
Santa Paula
On May 12th, 2025 Lynne Andrea (Mason) Dowling peacefully went to be with her beloved Jesus while at home in the house she raised her family in. She was born on July 11th, 1942 in Tulare, California to Samuel and Wanda Mason and was the oldest of 8 siblings. Her father, a renowned aviator, moved his family to Santa Paula during Lynne's sophomore year of high school to be a part of its airport.
While attending Santa Paula High School Lynne met the love of her life, Wendell Gaylon Dowling. They married shortly after high school and raised 3 daughters together. During their life together Lynne assisted her husband in many endeavors including painting three of Santa Paula's beautiful murals.
Lynne is best known for her steadfast love for Jesus and generously pouring that love onto everyone she encountered in life. She gave her time helping so many, whether it was showing up with a cheerful smile to lend a hand or offering free haircuts to the homeless. She was selfless to the core, learning to do all things with grace instilled in her by truly walking with Jesus. Lynne was a role model for all, a friend to many and she will be deeply missed. She found great joy in the simple things - a beautiful sky, playing the banjo, reading Scripture or simply watching the hummingbirds in her yard. She was the heart of her family and leaves behind a legacy of faith and love.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Wendell Gaylon Dowling. Her parents and three brothers Tony, David and Mike Mason.
She is survived by her three daughters, Heather (Peter) den Hollander of Bethel, OH, Wendi (David) Mitchell of Fillmore, CA and Laura (Ken) Wong of Bend, OR, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, sister Laura (Wayne) Davis of Lubbock, TX and brothers Tim, Jonathan (Annette) and Pete (Rowena) Mason all of Santa Paula, CA.
Visitation will be held at 9:00am with a Memorial Service to begin at 9:30am on Monday, May 19th, 2025 at LifeWay Baptist Church, 673 W. Santa Paula St. in Santa Paula, California. A Graveside Service to follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wendell Dowling Trust or to Navigators Ministries – www.navigators.org, in honor of Lynne's lifelong dedication to loving others.
