Obituary

Maria E. Artalejo, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 77.

Born on May 21st, 1946, on Hardison Ranch, in Fillmore, California, Maria was the daughter of Charles S. Artalejo, and Aurora V. Peralta.


Maria leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service. Maria Is survived by her siblings, Gloria Lopez, Beatrice Frias, Angelo Vargas, Emily Hurtado, devoted daughters, Carlyna Robles-Cook, Deanna Robles-Jacinto, Denise Robles-Calderon, and sons Joseph A. Robles and James R. Solis. She was a cherished grandmother to Elishia Jacinto, Michael Cook Jr., Monica Garcia, Angelica Meza, Alyssa Salazar, Ashley Jacinto, Christian Estrada, Salina Jacinto, Jenna Cook-Holmlund, Mya Bonneville, Natali' Calderon, Lalito Calderon, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her father, Charles S. Artalejo of Texas, mother, Aurora V. Peralta of New Mexico, and sisters, Sally A. Solis of Santa Paula, and Mary Lou Harper of Merced.


Maria was a long-time resident of Santa Paula, California. She worked at the Santa Paula Packing House, Wallace Machinery Company in Oxnard, Quinn Company in Oxnard, the State of California in Ventura, Laborers Union Local 585 in Ventura, and volunteered with the Spirit of California alongside Kay Wilson-Bolton, as well as various churches.


She devoted her spare time to feeding the homeless, Bible studies, traveling around the world, and playing golf. But most of all she loved spending time at the ranch with her grandchildren and horses. She was a graduate of Santa Paula High School and attended Ventura College.


Maria E. Artalejo will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her generous spirit, and her dedication to making the world a better place. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire generations to come.
