On December 4th, 2025, God called our beloved Mother up to heaven to reunite with our beloved father. Just one day prior to her 91st birthday. Maria Consuelo Muñoz, also known as "Doña Chelo," was a mother, wife, sister, Tia, friend, nana, great & great-great grandmother to many.

Maria & our father had a total of 11 children. All of whom they loved dearly. They leave behind Irma, Raquel, Jose Luis, Agustin, Ismael, Misain, Irene, Sophia, Efrain, Eric, & Jessica. With all the additional blessings her children brought into the world. Maria & Guadalupe fell in love & created a beautiful big family who will carry on the Muñoz name.

Not too many people know of the sacrifices Maria had to make throughout the years to give her children the opportunities & lives they live today. Life wasn't always easy, but she never failed to persevere. She lived life with a smile on her face, never complaining, & always catering to everyone around her. To know her, truly was to love her.

Even when she was diagnosed with dementia years ago. She continued to be the jokester we knew and loved. She lived for many years with dementia and although it had its challenges both for her and the family. We are beyond grateful for the years we had to return the favor & care for her.

We are left behind with so many great memories. One thing I'll never forget was her love for tortillas. Due to her dementia and other health concerns we had to limit her tortilla intake and remove the knobs from the stove. But in typical Maria fashion, she would sneakily warm up 10+ tortillas in the microwave all for her to enjoy by herself with her meals. We'd catch her in the act but ultimately let her enjoy them because life is too short to deprive her of her love for tortillas.

We will never forget the delicious food she made, gorditas, tortillas, huevos y frijoles, just to name a few. Just thinking of her dishes makes my mouth water. We are so thankful for the recipes she left behind that will forever keep her memory alive.

Our family will forever be grateful to everyone who loved and supported our mom during her lifetime. She was loved by many. "Our mission from this day forward is to embrace life as she did-fearlessly & full of love."
