It is with mourning and heavy hearts that we announce that our dear Maurice Michael McGill, who was known for his warm heart, infectious smile, and unforgettable energy, has passed away on May 2, 2026, at the young age of 55.

Michael was born and raised in Oxnard, CA, then later made his home in San Diego, CA, where he continued to build strong connections and lasting relationships. He lived life with so much soul and passion — he was always true to himself and the energy he brought into every space.

Michael was known for his love for reggae music and the Rasta lifestyle, embracing peace and unity wherever he went. He loved boogie boarding along the California coast, it's where he felt most at peace. His natural talent for breakdancing helped bring joy and entertainment to those in his presence. Above all, he was a devoted family man. Whether he was working on his lowriders, coaching his sons' football teams, riding his motorcycle, sharing the best stories, bodybuilding, or simply being present for those he loved, Maurice gave his whole entire heart.

Maurice is survived by his loving children, Louis Phelps, Isaiah and Nathan McGill; Lou Pajarillo, his former wife and mother of his children; his grandson Louis; his nephew Roberto Willis; his great niece Trinity Willis; and his sister Ruby McGill; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice Wendell McGill and Belia Sanchez, and his sister Belinda McGill.

Though deeply missed, Michael's spirit and love will continue to live on through the many lives he has touched.
