Obituary

Myrtle Lee Adams, age 90, of Oxnard, California, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at St. John's Hospital. She was born on June 19, 1935, in Bellwood, Louisiana, to the late Isaiah and Bessie Black who instilled in her the values of faith and family.

In 1954, Myrtle married Henry R. Adams, Sr., who served in the military with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage. Together, they raised six children.

As the devoted wife of a military servicemember, she supported her husband through the challenges and changes that military life brings.

Among the many positions she held over the years, she worked as a teacher's aide where she cared deeply for children and took pride in helping them learn and grow.  She found joy in cooking, sewing, bowling, painting and playing bingo. She was also known for baking cakes for special occasions. She also supported and helped manage her sons' music group, always encouraging their talent and creativity.

Myrtle was a devoted member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for many years.  Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Bessie Black, her husband, Henry Ray Adams, Sr., and her son, Claude W. Adams. She leaves to celebrate her memory her two daughters, Barbara of Texas and Carolyn (Lorenzo) of South Carolina, and three sons, Virgil of Oregon, Michael of Oregon, and Henry (Carmen) of California. Myrtle's legacy continues through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

Myrtle's warm and caring spirit touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.  She was the heart of the family, the one who kept everyone fed, prayed for and cared for.  She gave without asking and loved without limits. Though her physical presence is gone, her love lives on in the generations she nurtured and in the memories that she so lovingly left us.  She will be missed beyond words.
