Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce that our mom, Paula (Barajas) Ganceres, has been called to God's Kingdom. Paula passed peacefully with her daughter Mary Frances, brother Robert Barajas, her godson, and numerous nieces and nephews by her side as she took her last breath. Paula was the first-born child to Julian Barajas and Maria Rucobo Barajas. As the oldest, Paula helped to raise her brothers and sisters.

At 5 years old, Paula met her lifelong bestfriend Elva Murillo. Over the years, they shared a beautiful friendship until Elva's passing in 2023. Paula was lucky enough to meet the love of her life and soulmate, Siprian Ganceres. They were married soon after and moved to Mathis, Texas where they had their first child, Fredrick Ganceres. Soon after Fred was born, they moved back to Oxnard, CA. Paula got a job at Pt. Mugu Naval Base working as a key punch operator and soon became a data entry supervisor. Paula then had their second child, Mary Frances. Paula worked numerous data entry positions until Sip told her to retire and stay home to be a "housewife"— a job she enjoyed doing! Paula and Sip were married 62 years at the time of his death in 2017. Not a day went by without them saying "I love you" to each other.

We would like to thank Dr. Robert Oldt for all the years he took care of our mom. Thank you to Dr. Gregorio Ruelas for the care and compassion you showed our mom in the last couple years of her life that she was your patient. Lastly, we would like to thank her brother (Uncle) Bob Barajas for his help and always giving her rides during her long illness.

Paula was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Siprian Ganceres, parents Julian and Maria Barajas, in-laws Federico and Petra Ganceres, and numerous brothers and sisters. Paula is survived by her children Fred Ganceres (Shirley), Fresno, CA, Mary Frances Ganceres, Oxnard, CA who took care of Paula for the last 8 years during her illness. Brother Robert Barajas, and sister Jennie Alvarez of Oxnard, CA, beloved sister-in-law/comadre Margie Leal of Orange Grove, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Paula also leaves behind her two cherished grand dogs, 13-year-old cockapoo, Max, and 6-year-old scotchi, Sparky Paul, who already love and miss her very much. Mommy, we will forever be grateful for everything you did for us throughout our lives. You will forever live on in our hearts and we will miss you so very, very much. Until we see you again, we will love you forever. We love you Mommy! (Give Daddy and Tugger a huge kiss for me!)
