With hearts full of loving memories, we celebrate the life of Rachel Macias, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Born on Friday, September 30, 1938, in Saticoy, California, Rachel spent her life in Oxnard, leaving a legacy of love and laughter. Rachel was a devoted mother to Arthur Eugene Hill, Evette Elise Johnson, Luis Kenyatta Brown, Blas Brown, Benjamin David Duvall (predeceased), and Kendra Raquel Duvall. Her family was the center of her universe.

She leaves behind a vibrant legacy of 24 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving sister, Nellie Lopez, and was predeceased by her sister, Rita Maez, and her parents, Rosie Macias (Escudero) and Manuel Macias. Rachel was also a cherished aunt, leaving behind her dear niece Linda Ponce (Lopez) and many other nieces and nephews.

Rachel had a zest for life, enjoying trips to Las Vegas where she loved the thrill of the penny slots, lively games of Bingo, and the magical charm of Disneyland. She adored her collections of elephants and Tweety Bird memorabilia, and she could often be found cheering on tennis matches or enjoying her favorite shows, "Blue Bloods" and anything by Tyler Perry. Her favorite meal was a prime rib dinner, paired with a baked potato (extra butter), a side salad drowning in ranch dressing (no croutons!), a Bloomin' Onion, and a Bacardi & coke. More than anything, Rachel cherished the moments spent surrounded by her family, filling the room with laughter and love.

Rachel's professional life included working as a bookkeeper for the County of Ventura Controller's Office and as a directory assistance operator for GTE. A woman of faith, she attended New Life Community Church in person and online with her daughter Kendra. She accomplished one of her lifelong dreams in 2005 when she was reunited with the daughter, she thought she would never see again after being forced to give her up at birth in 1959 for the safety and wellbeing of them both. As a child, her sister Nellie, recounts tales of the infamous Lucy Hicks letting only Rachel jump on her bed. Her childhood dream of becoming a nurse found a beautiful expression throughout her life, as she extended a helping hand and provided shelter to some of the most vulnerable residents in Ventura County.

Rachel's spirit, filled with joy and loving kindness, will forever remain in our hearts.
