Richard Rodriguez of Oxnard, California, affectionately known to his family and friends as Ricky, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 4, 2026.

Ricky was born to Daniel and Dolores Rodriguez on November 16, 1964, and was a lifelong resident of Oxnard.

Rest easy, Ricky. You will always be deeply missed by your family and friends.

A loving son and longtime caregiver to his mother, Dolores, Ricky will always be remembered for his devotion, attentiveness, kindness, and patience in caring for her and tending to everything she needed. Even during the most difficult circumstances, no task ever seemed impossible to him.

Ricky enjoyed gardening at the family home, decorating outside for Halloween and Christmas, spending time with the family pets, Blu and Skye, and enjoying a little gambling here and there. He especially treasured the time he spent with his friend and neighbor, Anthony Pillado.

Ricky was preceded in death by his son, Richard Rodriguez Jr.; his father, Daniel Rodriguez; and his sister, Yvette Ayala.

He is survived by his son, Ronnie Rodriguez, and his grandsons, Ronin and Bodhi Rodriguez. Through all of life’s hurdles, his love for them remained forever in his thoughts and heart. He is also survived by his mother, Dolores Rodriguez; his brothers, Daniel Rodriguez and Teofilo Rodriguez; his niece, Desiree Lovio; his nephews, Daniel Rodriguez and Jeremiah Rodriguez; and his great-nieces and great-nephew.

A private sea scattering of Ricky’s ashes will be held after the mass.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to neighbors Anthony and Kathy, friends and family for being such wonderful and for providing steadfast support to the family when it was needed most.
