Roberto was born on April 26, 1952, in Jalisco, Mexico. At just 17 years old, he came to the United States with courage, determination, and the hope of building a better life.

Like many immigrants, he began with humble work. He worked at a Christmas tree farm in Malibu and as a dishwasher at a bar in Malibu. It was there that he taught himself English, learning from the patrons he served and by watching old televisions reruns. Through hard work and perseverance, he built a life he was deeply proud of.

Robert went on to work for the cable company in Malibu for 17 years. In 1986, his life changed in the most meaningful way when he met Lisa and her daughter, Nalani. In 1989, he left the cable company to begin working at ICC, and in 1990, he and Lisa were married. Two year later, in 1992, they welcomed their daughter Amanda in the world.

Roberto worked for the ICC for an incredible 34 years. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he was forced to retire, something that was not easy for him. He truly loved working and missed it deeply. Even while out running errands or driving around, he would often point and say, "I did a job here" or " I worked on that", proud of the work he had done and the legacy he left behind.

Roberto loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He was always active and could never sit still. He enjoyed riding his bicycle with his dogs over the years and found joy in staying busy. He was a true handyman, always building, fixing, and creating things, including cabinets and projects for the home. His hands were rarely still, and his love showed through everything he built.

Roberto leaves behind his beloved wife, Lisa, his daughters, Nalani and Amanda; his grandson, Edward; and his great-granddaughter, Anabelle. His is also survived by his siblings and extended family in Mexico, Arizona, and throughout California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Roberto's life was on of hard work, love, loyalty, and quiet strength. He leaves behind not only the things he built, but the family he cherished, the lessons he taught, and the love that will continue to live on in all of us.
