Feb 7, 1962 — Sep 20, 2026
Fillmore, CA
Rodolfo “Rudy” Contreras Alvarado, 64 , of Fillmore, California, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on September 20, 2026.
Rudy was born on February 7, 1962, in Atacheo de Regalado, Michoacán, Mexico, to Luis Contreras and María Elena Alvarado . At the age of 15, he immigrated to the United States and built a wonderful life for himself and his family. He worked at a restaurant in the San Fernando Valley before becoming a co-owner of Acapulco in Fillmore, which he later renamed La Plaza Market. In 2005, he purchased an avocado orchard and dedicated himself to its upkeep, often working from morning till night. He took great pride in his work and in being able to provide for his family.
Rudy loved being around people and made friends wherever he went. He enjoyed going to town, talking to people, and spending time with his family. He was hardworking, caring, dedicated, and fun-loving. Music brought him special joy, and in his free time, he enjoyed researching and practicing new songs.
Family was the center of Rudy's life. Christmas was his favorite time of year, and he would start planning the family gathering months in advance. He loved having everyone together and taught those around him the importance of being a good person and working hard.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira Carrillo, of Fillmore; his sons, Rudy Contreras, Leonel Contreras, and Christian Contreras ; his father, Luis Contreras; and his brothers and sisters: Alejandro, Angelita, Enrique, Esperanza, Jorge, Luis, Lupe, Marta, Miguel, Nena, Patricia, and Silvia.
He was preceded in death by his mother, María Elena Alvarado .
Rudy will be remembered for the life he built through hard work, the music that brought him happiness, the friendships he made wherever he went, and above all, for the love he had for his family and friends.
