Sandra K. Velasquez, 72 years of age, passed away on Sunday March 10, 2024, in Ventura, California. Sandra was born October 9, 1951. She was born in Santa Barbra, California to Anthony and Jennie Espinosa. She moved to Ventura when she was a baby and Ventura became her home town. Sandra graduated from Ventura High in 1970 and joined the Air force directly after to start her training as a medical service specialist. After the service she became a wife, and mother.
She started working for the Ocean View school district as a Migrant Education resource educator, the program entailed her working with the families and children of migrant workers to provide them educational and social services support to help them be successful. She attended Oxnard Beauty college and also Oxnard college and received her Associates degree in Drug and alcohol studies. Sandra went on to work at Casa Latina and Prototypes Substance abuse treatment center to help individuals with their addictions, this brought her great joy to give back and help others. That was the type of person Sandra was, she loved you right where you were at. Sandra was a fun loving spirt that loved her friends, family and her community. She enjoyed helping out in any way she could and began helping with youth at risk in the 90's, which brought different neighborhoods together in hopes of finding peace and unity amongst barrios in our community.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Anthony and Jennie Espinosa, along with her sister Cindy and brother Richard. Sandra leaves to cherish her loving memory her children Brigette Zapata and husband (Omar) and 5 grandchildren Ruben, Aleena husband (Brian), Michael, Kayleen, Omar, and her great granddaughter Iyanna all of Ventura, CA. Her daughter Desire Velasquez and 4 grandchildren, Juan Jose Jr., Isabella, Aiden, and Prince, of Bakersfield, Ca. Her daughter Tanya Ruiz husband (Danny) of Las Vegas, NV. Along with her 2 brothers Tony and Chris Espinosa, and 1 sister of Ventura, Ca.
