Obituary

Theresa G. Rubio passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at home. Theresa was born on March 2, 1933, to Ramon and Josefina Lerma in San Diego, California.

She attended school in San Diego, California, and 1 year in Jr. College with her daughter. She worked at a variety of job starting at the family tortilla factory then onto Starkist Tuna in San Diego, dry cleaners, Sherry Lynn's dress factory, Olga's Garments, Huggins Custom drapery, finally Ventura County Hospital.

She was her family's biggest supporter in their school and outside sport activities as their team mom and sideline cheerleader up to her death watching the videos sent while lying in bed. For years she was active in the community alongside her husband of 63 years before his passing with feeding and giving hand crocheted scarfs to the homeless at Christmas time, Knights of Columbus, Catechism teacher, Counselors for American Heart Association, Host family for 9 years to Y.F.U foreign exchange students, Oxnard boys baseball, Port Hueneme little league, South Oxnard AYSO, Oxnard Mosses Lodge, Active member for 19 years for Relay for Life, also a SURVIVOR.

Theresa proceeded by death by her parents Ramon and Josefina Lerma, 8 siblings Albert, Maximo, Joe, Raymond, Margie, Beatrice, Norma, Delores and son-in-law Joe Lopez and 3 grandsons Joseph Rubio, Garry Thomas & Scott Lopez and the love of her life for 63 years of marriage before his life Sabino Rubio.

She leaves behind her 3 amazing children, Bernie Glenn, Linda Lopez, Joey Rubio (Laura Richards Rubio), extended family members Eliza Thomas, Hiroko (Jim) Hodges, Alicia (Jose Luis) Ramirez, along with 3 generations of 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephew, god children and compadres.

A special thanks to Rebecca Otega, Alicia Benabise. The Cervantes family, The Barrientos family, Laura Richards Rubio, Chaplin Patty, Lupe LVN, and the entire Mr. & Mrs. Roberto & Martha Garcia Family, but most of all a big thank you to her daughters for their care and to Omar and Jaeccub Torres her grandson for bringing her home as her dying wish.
