Tom Bruce
Peterson
Aug 22, 1955 — Jan 5, 2026
SANTA PAULA
Tom Bruce Peterson, 70, passed away peacefully in his home with the love of his life by his side, Theresa Lindsay, in Santa Paula, California. He was born on August 22, 1955, in Turlock, California, to Elaine Verniece Carson and Albert Betal Peterson of Turlock, California. He graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1973.
Tom lived a life marked by faith, service, craftsmanship, and love for his family. In the early years of his adulthood, he served as a missionary with New Tribes Mission, dedicating himself to church planting in Papua New Guinea and supporting those who went after him. His time in the mission field reflected his deep faith and lifelong commitment to helping others.
After his formal missionary chapter closed, Tom opened his own carpentry business. He became known for his exceptional workmanship and integrity, earning a reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. His work was sought out not only for its quality, but for the care and pride he brought to every project.
Tom lived in multiple cities, states, and countries throughout his life—experiences that shaped his easygoing and adaptable nature. For the past 27 years, he made his home in Santa Paula, California, where he spent his final years.
He was known for his relaxed, light-hearted, and loving personality. Tom had a natural go-with-the-flow spirit and brought a sense of calm wherever he went. He found joy in simple pleasures, especially model trains, cheering for the Dodgers, and listening to classic rock.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, Theresa Lindsay; his sons, Brent Peterson and his wife Tiffany, and Tim Peterson and his wife Bekka; his siblings, Lori Peterson and Alan Peterson; his grandchildren, Josiah Peterson, Kyla Peterson, Aubry Peterson, Christian Peterson, Callie Peterson, and Cami Peterson; his great-grandchildren, Titus Peterson and Evie Peterson; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins on the Lindsay side of the family.
Tom will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. His faith, steady presence, and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
