Victor A. Delgado October 23, 1936 – October 12, 2025,

Victor A. Delgado, born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and longtime resident of Oxnard, California, passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2025, at 3:52 AM at the age of 88. He was born on October 23, 1936, to Jose Cumplido Delgado and Maria Emilia Aguilera Delgado, both of whom preceded him in death in Guadalajara. Victor's siblings — Jesus Delgado, Esther Delgado, Isabel Delgado, Rosa Delgado, and Margarita Delgado — all preceded him in death in Guadalajara, Mexico. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Irma Delgado.

Before coming to the United States, Victor worked alongside his father and brother in the family tannery business, specializing in tanning skins for purses and shoes. Victor dedicated 44 years of his life to working in agriculture at Pictsweet Mushroom Farms in Ventura, California, where he was admired for his hard work and dedication. In addition, he worked seasonally for over 20 years at The Chileria, further demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to supporting his family.  In addition to his tireless work, Victor also stood up for what he believed in. He was proud to support and rally alongside César Chávez and the Teamsters, advocating for the rights and dignity of farm workers — a cause close to his heart and his life's work.

In 2022, Victor was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and like the boxer he was, he fought the illness with strength and determination until the very last moment.  Victor's love for boxing wasn't just a passion — it was a defining chapter of his life. His boxing career spanned seven years, during which he earned recognition as a Golden Gloves Champion and went on to become the featherweight boxing champion of Guadalajara in 1960. He carried the discipline and spirit of the ring with him throughout his life.  He was also a marathon runner and loved watching boxing and soccer, especially cheering for Real Madrid and his favorite player, Cristiano Ronaldo. But his heart truly belonged to his hometown team, Las Chivas de Guadalajara.  Most of all, he treasured traveling the world — first with his beloved wife Irma, and later with his children and their families, creating cherished memories along the way. Victor was a dedicated Catholic, whose faith was a cornerstone of his life and a guiding light for his family.

Victor and his beloved wife, Irma C. Delgado, were married for 64 years, having started their journey together when Irma was just 12 years old. He was a devoted husband and father who deeply loved his family.  He thrived on family gatherings and cherished being surrounded by loved ones, especially enjoying long games of poker and dominoes with his grandchildren. Victor and Irma shared a lifelong love of dancing and music, often starting and ending all celebrations out on the dance floor.  He also found joy in the simple things — like scratching off lottery tickets gifted to him by his sons, Victor and Albert. Though he never won big, the fun and anticipation brought him happiness, and his sons continued giving them, knowing how much he enjoyed it.

Victor set the bar high when it came to taking care of his loved ones. He left this world with all his affairs in order, ensuring his wife and family would not struggle. Through thoughtful planning and foresight, he set an example for all who knew him. He loved and gave unconditionally, understanding that all his blessings came from hard work, honesty, respect for others, and a deep love for God.

He is survived by his wife, Irma C. Delgado; his sons, Victor C. Delgado and Alberto C. Delgado (wife Jenny Delgado); his daughter, Graciela Delgado Diaz (husband Ramiro Mares); his grandchildren: Albert Delgado (wife Andrea Delgado), Crystal White (husband Jacob White), Natasha Delgado, Tony Diaz, Matthew Diaz, and Isaiah Mares; and his great-grandchildren: Ramona Delgado and Bonnie Delgado.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
