About Us & Our Commitment to You

Our story begins in 1977, when Roberto Valle Garcia and his wife Martha, along with his parents, Jose Carmen and Angela Garcia, acquired property at 629 South A Street in Downtown Oxnard. On January 18, 1978, Garcia Mortuary proudly opened its doors. As the very first Hispanic Funeral Home in Ventura County, it laid a foundation of deep community trust, dedicated to serving families with compassion and dignity during their times of greatest need.

Robert Rey Garcia, Jr. developed a deep respect for the funeral profession by assisting his father with various services from a very young age. After graduating from high school in Oxnard in 1988, Robert went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks in 1993. His dedication to service extended beyond the local community; during his time at Cal Lutheran, Robert enlisted in the military, proudly serving our country in the U.S. Marine Corps until his honorable discharge in 1997.

Robert’s professional journey in the funeral industry officially began to take shape in 1996 when he became a licensed life insurance agent, allowing him to lead a team of pre-need specialists at his family's Oxnard location. In 1998, Robert earned his Funeral Director's license. Driven to build upon his family's esteemed reputation, he was issued an establishment license by the State of California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau on November 4, 2008, under the name Robert Rey Garcia Jr. Funeral Services.

Today, Robert resides in Santa Paula, California, with his daughter Dani. By uniting these two esteemed family brands under one roof, we are continuing the Garcia tradition of outstanding, detailed, and trusted funeral services. Whether honoring a beloved community member or a veteran, our family is here to guide and support yours.
